The pressure valve of heat and humidity we’ve been experiencing here in the south shows signs of letting up with the recent crisp mornings. It’s as if the Great Mama knows we have had just about enough and is giving us a taste of what’s to come.
As we glimpse around, flowers are sparse, except for the golden rod, which appears at the right time to support us with seasonal allergies in the fall and some of the last forage for pollinators. Summer vegetable plants are looking a little weary, and the bright, vibrant green from new growth in the treetops has muted to a darker, more subtle shade of green.
In late summer, the natural world reveals glimpses of the new cycle we are entering, which is efforting less (the growing season is over), gratitude for the harvest, and going with the flow as leaves drop and seeds disperse—the medicine of fall.
As we progress towards the shift between summer and fall, we are invited to shift how we move about in our daily lives. However, this can be challenging with the structures and routines in place that still need to be tended to despite what the rest of the natural world is doing.
Fortunately, even a subtle shift in how you move about your day can make a major impact when practiced consistently through this shift in the season. Taking even 5 minutes to soak in the little patch of nature you find yourself in can support your body in receiving the message of the seasonal energetic shift ahead. This is vibrational medicine at its most subtle, potent, free, and accessible whenever you are. Now is the perfect time to step outside, fully occupy the inner landscape of your body, take your seat within your heart, and connect with the natural world around you.
If you would like a refresher and support in receiving nature’s medicine, to create some time to transition into fall, to deeply nourish yourself, or all of the above—I have a wide range of experiences I’m creating this fall, from workshops at Whitewater Center to weekend retreats. I hope to see you this fall!
